Hi! Welcome to Dirty Diction Designs (and Dirty Diction Fiction)!
DDD came into fruition out of the love of buying bookish art throughout Lyss’s university years. She decorated each of her dorm rooms and then later her home office, calling it the ‘smut cave’. But she often found that the scenes she’d love to have on her wall weren’t made yet and that Canadian-based bookish shops were hard to find. So, in 2022, after brainstorming names with her bookish bestie and hubby, Dirty Diction Designs came alive!
Through her love for reading and bookish merch, she is able to have her dream job where she can collaborate with incredible artists and provide merch for her fellow sugar and spice lovers!
Lyss can’t wait to see how DDD/F will grow, and is excited to share with you all the projects she and her amazing team of artists are cooking up <3

Hot Reads is a bookish lifestyle brand created for people seeking comfort, escape, and quiet moments in a loud world.
Hot Reads was founded during a season of life when I was carrying more than I knew how to process. Reading became my escape. For a few hours at a time, books gave me somewhere else to go. And somehow, every time I returned from those worlds, I came back a little calmer, a little softer, and a little more ready to face the one in front of me.
That’s why this company exists.
For the people who need rest. For the overthinkers. For the romantics.
For anyone who just needs a quiet moment and a good story.
We also deeply believe in championing women, BIPOC authors, Canadian voices, and storytellers whose perspectives deserve to be seen, celebrated, and protected.

I was born and raised in Manitoba. My husband and I moved to Alberta over 10 years ago.
My love for painting was born out of necessity during the year of 2020. As a new mother struggling with severe postpartum depression, I found myself in need of a creative outlet to help my mental health. It was during this time that I stumbled upon a virtual paint night hosted by a generous artist based in Calgary, AB. What began as a tentative experiment quickly blossomed into a deep-seated passion for painting, particularly with acrylics.
Today, I dedicate myself to crafting landscapes that echo the enchanting tales I read combined with the Canadian Rockies landscape. Each piece is a testament to my love for storytelling through art, inviting viewers to step into worlds of wonder and imagination. My work is not just about creating art; it's about connecting with others who share a passion for the fantastical and the beautiful.

What started off as creating bookmarks soon turned into a business idea to create bookmarks, stickers, jewelry, and blind dates with a book. This shop is a place where everyone can come together and express their love of their passion, whether it is about books, animals, or anime. Tiffani lives in Okotoks, AB with her family of 2 human males, 2 dogs, 1 cat, and approximately 120 fish. All items are handmade in her gaming office.

Ronda and Bill Chestnutt are the owners and creators of Ridge Works, where their passion for woodworking is at the heart of everything they create. Inspired by the natural beauty of wood and its endless possibilities, they craft unique, handcrafted pieces designed to be both functional and meaningful.
Their work includes keepsake and jewelry boxes—many featuring stunning live edges—along with desk trays, small bowls, charcuterie boards, serving trays, candle holders, Christmas ornaments, wine glass holders, and more.
One of Ridge Works’ signature offerings is Sound Wave Art. Each handcrafted piece transforms a meaningful word, phrase, or voice recording into a beautiful visual soundwave design. These personalized creations become lasting keepsakes with deep personal meaning. Choose from existing designs or commission a custom piece tailored to your vision—any size, any phrase, any language.

[UgliStuffs was born in a windowless basement at the start of the pandemic. Out of boredom and curiosity, we started making small little rave bracelets for all the raves we were not going to (and honestly we have never been to a rave). When we had too many bracelets and not enough friends to give them to, we posted them on Etsy not thinking much of it. And then BOOM, a sale! And another, and then another! These ugli lil bracelets were making it around the world, and it was amazing!
... Creating ugli things for beautiful people is what we do, and we couldn’t do it without you. Thank you for believing in us and following us along on this journey!
